A Story Steeped in Sound

Abstract By Design was formed by guitarist Rich Bova and drummer Nick Tolias in late 2018. After some significant lineup changes, the band solidified itself as a metal power trio with the addition of Billy Weisensee on bass, as well as Rich taking lead vocals in early 2020. The Bands musical influences stem from a variety of genres, the most prevalent being a unique blend of Progressive and Mainstream Metal. Their writing begins with Nick, as the songs foundation and drive, incorporating odd time signature patterns with a variety of styles ranging from Progressive Rock to Thrash Metal. Rich adds the Mainstream Metal element blended with intricate riffs and unconventional solo work. Billy anchors the music with impactful bass lines, chord progressions and melodic interludes. Vocally, Rich delivers a distinctively aggressive style to songs written to capture instances and emotions of life experience on topics from loving an addiction to embracing a new fulfilled life and everything in between. These collective efforts are what makes Abstract By Design a band that pushes boundaries while always maintaining true metal integrity. The release of their debut recording, Deceptive Identity, is available as of August 2022 and the band will be performing live throughout the New England area. Abstract By Design is always searching for new challenges and opportunities, as the band moves forward to the next chapter in their musical endeavors.

Abstract By Design's first live Performance was recorded at The Parlour in Providence, Rhode Island on June 6th 2022 for Motif Magazine. This podcast consists of 6 songs off the upcoming debut release, and a discussion with the band regarding the creative process, musical influences, and what lies ahead, to name a few topics.
